With International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians as chair organiser and Taida Institute for Mathematical Sciences and Tsinghua University as co-organisers and fully supported by New World Development Company Limited ("the Group"; Stock Code: 17.HK) and China Young Leaders Foundation, the award ceremony of the third New World Mathematics Awards was successfully held in Taipei today. Young Chinese mathematics talents from around the world received accolades, which encourage the development of the Chinese mathematics world.
A total of 27 outstanding Chinese mathematics students from around the world garnered awards at New World Mathematics Awards 2013. With over 200 renowned guests from the world of mathematics including Wang Jin-pyng, President of the Legislative Yuan of Taiwan, and Christina Liu, Adjunct Professor at the National Taiwan University College of Management, Professor Yau Shing-Tung, Chairman of Selection Committees of New World Mathematics Awards (Selection Committees), Adrian Cheng, Executive Director and Joint General Manager of New World Development Company Limited and Chairman of China Young Leaders Foundation and members of Selection Committees officiated at the award ceremony, congratulating awardees on their outstanding achievements.

New World Mathematics Awards honours the achievements of outstanding Chinese mathematics students from around the world. Established in 2007 by Dr Henry Cheng, Chairman and Executive Director of New World Development Company Limited and Professor Yau Shing-Tung and funded by New World Group and China Young Leaders Foundation, the Awards aims at encouraging Chinese students to master mathematics and giving young Chinese mathematicians from around the world the opportunity to exchange knowledge with one another.
The first and second award ceremonies were held in Hangzhou and Beijing respectively. New World Mathematics Awards has been embraced by Chinese mathematics students from around the world since its establishment. Competition essays from all three awards were of a high standard, with the subjects explored ranging from foundation of mathematics to applied mathematics, probability theory to mathematical biology. A total of 79 Chinese mathematics students have garnered accolades in the past three awards, they are all from world renowned universities including Harvard University, Stanford University, National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
