Mr Adrian Cheng Chi-Kong, Executive Director of New World Group, is pleased that the Group has garnered the Mercury Awards, "We are delighted to receive these awards once again. It encourages us to proceed and achieve more outstanding results, and most importantly, maintain good communication with our stakeholders. Besides annual reports, the environmental conservation campaign organized by the Group also clinched an award, recognizing its outstanding performance in corporate communications. We will strive for better results in the coming future."

"Pass on Our Values" is the main theme of NWD's FY2009 annual report, with dandelion as the main visual. Each of the dandelions carries a different core value of the Group which spreads with the dandelion to everywhere by the wind. The dandelions printed throughout the whole annual report symbolize their mission to carry and pass on the core values of the Group.

The cover of the NWDS FY2009 annual report endeavors to make a breakthrough with a transparent window inserted to the graphic layout, creating a vision of the bustling scene inside the department store. The main visual "Hundred Birds Forwarding to the Sun" and colorful graphic of customers demonstrate NWDS's new image of "Enriching Lifes‧Enriching Characters". Throughout the whole annual report, readers can find the graphic of the colorful customers which represent the pursuit of fabulous life of NWDS's customers. The graphic of escalator represents that NWDS strives for better performance and higher goals.

Last year, NWCL FY2008 annual report brought the investors to the countrywide network of NWCL in China to explore its different projects. This year, the FY2009 annual report of NWCL extends this concept and exhibits the projects as if they are the art-pieces explored by the readers last year. The photo frames on the cover and in the interior display the art-pieces for readers and investors' appreciation. The classical mirrors appearing throughout the annual report also clearly reflect the financial results of NWCL and create an artistic look for the annual report in addition to enhancing its transparency in announcing its financial results.

In 2008, NWS joined hands with the Association for Geoconservation, Hong Kong to organize the NWS Hong Kong Geo Wonders Hike 2008 for the first time. Through organizing various activities, the campaign aims at raising public awareness in geoconservation. The high penetrating power of website, videos and souvenirs provide informative channels to the public and further enhance their understanding in the subject. An event logo was specially designed for the campaign. The hexagon represents a cluster of hexagonal rock columns, Hong Kong's most important geo wonder. The red and orange corporate colors of NWS are incorporated into the logo, and demonstrate the commitment of NWS in supporting environmental friendly initiatives.

The international Mercury Awards was set up by the MerComm, Inc in 1987, with an objective to reward outstanding corporate communications projects. The independent and stringent judging process has made the Awards a highly recognized one. All the entries were evaluated for three times. Therefore, the awardees are undoubtedly the most outstanding communication projects which won the recognition of the industry.
