New World Group Raises the Highest Amount for "MSF Day" for the Fifth Time
New World Development Company Limited ("New World Group" or "the Group", Hong Kong stock code: 17) and its subsidiaries participated in "MSF Day 2011" organized by Médecins Sans Frontières ("MSF") this year and have raised a total donation amount of HK$480,000, becoming the corporation raising the highest amount of the year for three consecutive years. This is the fifth time for New World Group receiving such an honor.
New World Group appealed for donation of one day's salary from its local and regional staff which symbolizes volunteering for MSF's worldwide medical aid work for one day. With the enthusiastic support of the employees, New World Group has raised HK$480,000 this year, in which New World Department Store China Limited ("NWDS", Hong Kong Stock Code: 825), the key sponsor of the event, has contributed HK$400,000 to the total. The Group is proud to be the corporation raising the highest amount again and appreciates the kindness of dedicated employees who made the donation without hesitation.
Since 2006, New World Group has been supporting the worldwide medical aid work of MSF by various means. Charity sale and youth art activities were organized in the past by New World Group to raise fund for MSF. As an active supporter of "MSF Day", the Group does not only mobilize staff to donate, but also provides airtime on multi-media on-board platform of New World First Bus and Citybus for promotion. The Group hopes to provoke the awareness of MSF's worldwide life-saving effort among the staff members and the general public through this event. Employees' contributions are expected to be sent to the needy by the MSF field workers in the near future.
