New World Group has raised the highest amount for "MSF Day" for the second consecutive year

New World Development Company Limited ("NWD", "New World Group" or "The Group", Hong Kong Stock Code: 0017) has raised HK$520,000 for "MSF Day 2007" of Medecins Sans Frontieres ("MSF"), becoming the corporation that contributed the highest amount of donation to the event for two consecutive years.

New World Group has participated in the "MSF Day" since 2006 and a sum of HK$300,000 was raised last year. This year, New World Group continued to encourage staff members of NWD and its subsidiaries to support the event by donating one day's income to MSF, just as volunteering for MSF's worldwide medical aid work for one day. Over 2,000 staff members have joined the event and raised a sum of HK$520,000, in which HK$300,000 came from New World Department Store China Limited ("NWDS", Hong Kong Stock Code: 0825). With the overwhelming responses from its staff, New World Group is proud to become the most generous contributor to the event and also the corporation with the highest number of participants.

A cheque presentation was held on 29 July 2007. On behalf of New World Group, Miss Rebecca Woo, Director of Corporate Affairs of NWDS passed the cheque to Miss Carmen Lee, Acting President of MSF Hong Kong.

The Group has always been philanthropic toward society. It is especially supportive to the meaningful initiatives at MSF. In addition to taking part in "MSF Day", New World Group has also provided many other means of support toward the work of MSF. These included free airtime on FirsTVision of New World First Bus for MSF's TVC, free venue sponsorship for MSF's public activities, as well as organizing a charity sale at New World Group's hotels in Hong Kong. Furthermore, the Group took part in MSF Orienteering Competition and was awarded as Outstanding Organization Fundraiser. The Group aims at arousing awareness and support to MSF's meaningful life-saving effort among general public.
