New World Group and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs renewed the agreement for "New World Harvard Kennedy School Fellows Programme"

New World Group (the "Group") and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs ("SAFEA"), PRC renewed the agreement for "New World Harvard Kennedy School Fellows Programme" (the "Programme"), committed to nurturing senior government officials in Mainland China for another three years.

The signing ceremony was held at Beijing Hotel, Beijing on 20 September 2010. Mr Ji Yun-shi, General Director of SAFEA and Dr Henry Cheng, Managing Director of New World Group co-signed the agreement of the Programme. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Adrian Cheng Chi-Kong, Executive Director of New World Group, Mr David Ellwood, Dean of John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University ("Harvard") and other distinguished guests.

Mr Ji Yun-shi said, "While the Country is formulating the National 12th Five-Year Plan, government officials are expected to handle external affairs more frequently. Through "New World Harvard Kennedy School Fellows Programme", the observation and analytical skills of the participating government officials are greatly improved. They are also well prepared to facilitate cross-country co-operations.We are pleased that New World Group has supported this Programme for 12 years and we hope that the Programme will always result with fruitfulness."

Mr Adrian Cheng Chi-Kong was delighted that the Group can continue to support the Programme with honour and said, "Senior government officials with international perspective and good social network are always welcomed by the Government. They certainly help enhancing the national strength and promoting social and economic development. We are glad that we have been nurturing senior government officials over the past 12 years. It is also our pleasure that the alumni can apply what they have learnt in the Programme in the workplace and contribute to the betterment of the society. In the future we hope to further contribute to the Country by sending more government officials to study abroad."

For years, New World Group has been dedicated to the development of senior government officials in Mainland China. The Group signed an agreement with SAFEA and Harvard in 1998, starting the "New World Harvard Kennedy School Fellows Programme". Each year, about 20 outstanding senior government officials are sent to Harvard for a fellows programme of four months and an executive programme of one to four weeks. Up to now, 157 bright officials have benefited from this professional training programme with international standard. The Group will continue to support development of senior government officials in Mainland China in the future.
