New World Group and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs Jointly Established "Foundation for Thousand Foreign Experts Programme"

New World Development Company Limited ("New World Group" or "the Group"; Hong Kong stock code: 17) jointly established the "Foundation for Thousand Foreign Expert Programme" ("the Foundation") with State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs ("SAFEA"), PRC, supporting the kick-off of "Thousand Foreign Experts Programme" ("the Programme") which facilitates overseas experts to work for the Country and renders support to the talent development of the PRC cadres.
The signing ceremony was held at Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong today. Mr Zhang Jianguo, General Director of SAFEA and Dr Henry Cheng, Managing Director of New World Group, co-signed the agreement of the Foundation. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Huang Lanfa, Deputy Director (Vice-minister) of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR ("LOCPG") and other distinguished guests from SAFEA, LOCPG and New World Group.
New World Group and SAFEA both contributed RMB10 million as start up fund for the establishment of the Foundation. In regard to the economic and social development of the Country, SAFEA launches the Programme aiming to introduce 1,000 overseas experts to work in Mainland China in the coming 10 years to contribute for the strategic development of the Country.
For years, New World Group has been dedicated to the development of senior government officials in Mainland China and the influx of experts to the Country. New World Group signed an agreement with SAFEA and Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University ("Harvard") in 1998, starting the "New World/Harvard Kennedy School Fellows Programme". Each year, about 20 outstanding senior government officials are sent to Harvard for a Fellows Programme of four months or an executive programme of four weeks. Up to now, 170 outstanding officials have benefited from this professional training programme with international outlook and perspective. Based on the spirit of this cooperation, New World Group collaborates with SAFEA again and fully supports the "Thousand Foreign Experts Programme". New World Group will continue to support the training and talent development of senior government officials in Mainland China in the future.
