New World China Land & UNICEF launch "New Living National Drawing Contest"

New World China Land ("NWCL" or "The Group"; Hong Kong Stock Code: 0917) signed a three-year corporate partnership agreement named "Create A Better New World For Children" with UNICEF in Beijing on 10 August 2007. At the same time, "Create A Better New World For Children - New Living Drawing Contest" was also launched, signifying the kick-off of a series of commemorative events celebrating the eighth anniversary of NWCL's public listing on the Hong Kong stock market. Mr. Adrian Cheng, Executive Director of NWCL, and Mr. David McLoughlin, UNICEF's Deputy Representative in China, officiated the inaugural ceremony with Ms. Wang Zhuzhu, Deputy President of the National Center for Educational Technology, Ministry of Education of PRC and officials from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education of PRC.

A cheque presentation was held after the ceremony, with Mr. Adrian Cheng presenting a cheque of RMB 400,000 to UNICEF. The amount was raised in the "UNICEF Teddy Bear Charity Sale" during the first half of 2007. Since February 2007, "UNICEF Teddy Bear Charity Sale" had been carried out in 26 different NWCL property projects throughout 14 cities in Mainland China. Shenyang and Guangzhou were two cities that stood out in sales, contributing RMB 150,000 to the programme.

Mr. Adrian Cheng stated, "We are happy to introduce the work of UNICEF to our customers and arouse their support to the children in the economically backward regions of Mainland China. I believe that we must help the needy in our society in order to create a better new world.

"Create A Better New World For Children - New Living Drawing Contest" looks for artworks based on the theme "New World New Living" from individuals of different age groups. Contestants may enter the competition by purchasing gift certificates from UNICEF. Proceeds from the auctioning of the artworks will be contributed to UNICEF as supporting fund of the programme "Child-Friendly Schools".

"Child-Friendly Schools" ("CSF")
CSF is a collaborative project by Ministry of Education ("MOE") of PRC and UNICEF from 2006-2010. It aims at promoting well-rounded development of children as well as enhancing school and learner quality. The idea behind CSF is in line with the targets of the new curriculum reform in China. NWCL will donate all proceeds from the charity programmes under the three-year corporate partnership agreement to CSF, enabling CSF to expand its works to other needy areas of China.

As the property flagship in Mainland China under New World Group, NWCL has set corporate citizenship as its core corporate value since the 1990s. While diligently working toward excellence in property development, NWCL also devotes itself to developing a harmonious and positive social environment. The cooperation with UNICEF and the continuance of successful community events further enhances NWCL's efforts in philanthropy and education, its devotion to give back to society, and its hard work in establishing a better new world.
