Grand Hyatt Hong Kong launches its first green car

Following the launch of Hyatt Thrive, Global Hyatt's corporate social responsibility platform few months ago, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong proudly unveils the hotel's first electric car, LEAF.

LEAF is manufactured by Nissan and is a 100% electric car featuring five seats. LEAF does not producetailpipe pollutionorgreenhouse gas emissionsat the point of operation. It uses 80 kilowatts (110 hp) and 280 Nm (210 ft/lb) front-mountedsynchronous electric motordriving the wheels, powered by an 86 megajoule (24 kW/h)lithium ion batterypack, rated to deliver up to 90 kilowatts (120 hp) power. It has a top speed of over 145 km /h and driving range up to 160 km (US LA4 mode) when fully charged.

Apart from the classic London Taxi, guests staying at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong can now enjoy a ride in the green car to the business and shopping districts at Central, Wanchai, Admiralty and Causeway Bay.

Launched globally in June 2011, Hyatt Thrive reinforces the commitment of Hyatt to engage and benefit the local community. Environmental sustainability is one of the four pillars of Hyatt Thrive, encouraging properties to reduce resource consumption, waste and emissions to protect the natural environment in local communities.
