To coincide with the World Environment Day on 5 June, New World Development Company Limited (the "Group" or "NWD"; Hong Kong stock code: 17) will organize the First New World Green Week from 5 to 11 June 2010 with the theme of "Carbon Reduction". The Group and its subsidiaries will organize a variety of activities to raise environmental awareness among the public and its staff. The Group has launched two Facebook activities, namely "Eco-Market" and "Low Carbon Menu Design Competition", creating a Green New World together with the public.
People Power in a New World Series 2010 - Eco-stume Making Project, the kick-off event of the New World Green Week, will commence on 5 June. It aims at unleashing youngsters' potential in art by producing creative eco-stumes made of recycled clothes. To align with such theme, the Group is organizing the Facebook activity, "Eco-Market", which collects creative handicrafts made of used clothes. From now on until 11 June, the public can upload photos of self-created handicrafts to the Facebook fans page of "New World Group", such as new outfits made of recycled cloth, accessories, toys, bags, gifts, and more. The three most creative participants will be awarded with a HK$300 dining voucher of Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong, sponsored by New World Group. To encourage the public to adopt low carbon diet by consuming seasonal and local food, using simple cooking method, and eating vegetables instead of meat, the Group is organizing another Facebook activity named "Low Carbon Menu Design Competition" until 11 June. To join this, one should upload either photo of a self-created low carbon dish or video showing the cooking process of the low carbon dish, together with the recipe and cooking tips to the Facebook fans page of "Green New World".
