Youth Square Career Seminar - 300 Young Participants Gain Knowledge on Career Prospect of Creative Industries

To facilitate the youngsters in discovering their interest and knowing more about the job market and creative industries, Youth Square organizes the Youth Square Career Seminar today, with an aim to enhance the knowledge of youngsters on internet and multi-media, creative, advertising and marketing communications industries, through the sharing by various speakers. Around 300 participants also gained knowledge from the representative from Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management on the techniques of job hunting and interview.

The four speakers include Mr Leslie Chu, General Manager, Taiwan, Hong Kong & Macao, Microsoft Online Service Group; Mr Chang Tsz-hin, renowned local caricaturist; Mr Alexis Chiu, Business Director, McCann Erickson Guangming Ltd.; and Ms Carrie Chau, General Manager, Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management. Their respective topics are internet & multi-media, creative industry, advertising & marketing communications, and job-hunting and interview techniques. St James' Settlement also introduces their youth employment programme which targets at youngsters aged between 15 to 24, who are interested in sales industry. The programme will also provide pre-employment and on-job training to them and enhance their competitiveness.

More than 70 vacancies at Youth Square, New World Telecommunications Limited, New World iMedia Solutions Limited, Urban Group and financial institute are available for application at the seminar. Application forms are distributed and collected at the spot. Participants can get a set of information kit with career information from JobsDB, Hok Yau Club, Labour Department and St James' Settlement.

The mission of Youth Square is to promote youth development and training, so that youngsters can develop into future leaders of the society. To allow youngsters to identify the career prospect of different industries, Youth Square organizes this career seminar and invited renowned professionals from various industries to share their insights. We hope that the seminar can lead a way for youngsters to open their door to creativity and prepare themselves for the bright future.

About Youth Square
Youth Square is a project under Home Affairs Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Its objective is to serve as a focal point for territory-wide youth development activities and provide venue and facilities for these activities and training. Youth Square comprises two blocks, the Main Block and Hostel Block. The Main Block consists of "Y-Theater", "Y-Studio", "Multi-purpose Area", "Retail Shops" and "Offices", etc. Hostel Block consists of 150 hostels rooms, catering for the accommodation of exchange students. With innovative design and comprehensive facilities, Youth Square provides a platform for youths to develop their potential and get ready to be the future leaders of the society.
