NWSH organises Fairy Kiddo Land with Hans Andersen Club

Jointly organized by NWS Holdings Limited ("NWSH") and the Hans Andersen Club ("HAC"), the Fairy Kiddo Land was successfully completed on 16 December 2006 in New World Centre. The Fairy Kiddos, 30 children of HAC who come from low-income families, their wishes for becoming authors and actors were fulfilled before Christmas. Kiddo Fairy Tale, a compilation of the Fairy Kiddos' creative stories, was launched during the event for charity sale and was well received. All sale proceeds will go to HAC. The Fairy Kiddos also performed the drama Fairy Villa.

Mr Tsang Yam Pui, NWSH's Executive Director and Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and Mr Gordon Fong, Executive Committee Member of HAC addressed in the opening ceremony. "NWSH endeavours to uphold corporate social responsibility. We are delighted to have Hans Andersen Club as our partner for Life Rejuvenation Scheme 2006. The volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance have devoted their time and effort to guide the Fairy Kiddos in story writing. Kiddo Fairy Tale combined the children's creativity as well as volunteers' caring spirit. I wish the sentiment of fairy tales could impact individual readers through the book. I am also proud of the active participation of volunteers and the Fairy Kiddos throughout the whole programme," said Mr Tsang.

Representing the Hans Andersen Club, Mr Gordon Fong expressed their gratitude for NWSH's full support as well as the volunteers' and the Fairy Kiddos' participation. He hoped the spirit of mutual learning and support could carry on. Mr Tsang and Prof Gwendolyn Gong, Chairperson of Hans Andersen Club, marked the debut of the Kiddo Fairy Tale. The charity sale of the Kiddo Fairy Tale was held during the event. Each book sold at HK$38, with all sale proceeds going to HAC. Fairy Kiddos also made their first public performance of the drama Fairy Villa. Their outstanding performance gained applause from audience.

Other programmes featured in the Fairy Kiddo Land include stage performance, game booths, magic show by Mr Harry Wong and also sharing on family reading by celebrity Ms Ng Yuen Fong, artist Mr Mak Cheung Ching, Mr Stephen Mann, Lecturer of the Open University of Hong Kong and Ms Maria Cheung, Senior Manager - Corporate Communication of NWSH.

Fairy Kiddo - Life Rejuvenation Scheme 2006 Since 2003, NWS Volunteer Alliance, the corporate volunteer team of NWSH, has partnered with non-profit organizations to organize the Life Rejuvenation Scheme on a yearly basis. In 2006, NWS Volunteer Alliance collaborated with Storyland of Hans Andersen Club for a one-year programme, Fairy Kiddo for 30 primary school children from Wong Tai Sin District's low-income families. Guided by some 20 volunteers of the NWS Volunteer Alliance, the Fairy Kiddos were able to learn the basics of drama and story writing so as to enhance their interest towards reading, writing and strengthen their communication skill. Fairy Kiddos also visited the subsidiary companies of NWSH, such as the depot of New World First Bus and the nursery in Hong Kong Island Landscape. Fairy Kiddos were also participated in the NWSH's Fun Day.
