New World Group has raised HK$300,000 for "MSF Day"
(26 October 2006, Hong Kong) New World Development Company Limited ("NWD" or "the Group", Hong Kong stock code: 0017) raised HK$300,000 for "MSF Day" of Medecins Sans Frontieres ("MSF") and was the corporate contributing the highest amount to the event.
NWD and MSF jointly organized "New World MSF Day" on 13 October 2006. Staff members of NWD and its subsidiaries were encouraged to donate one day of their salary to MSF, just as volunteering for MSF's worldwide medical aid work for one day. Overwhelming responses were received and HK$300,000 was raised. The Group is proud to become the most generous contributor to the event.
A cheque presentation was held with Mr Stewart Leung, Executive Director and Group General Manager of NWD passing the cheque to Mr Dick van der Tak, Executive Director of MSF.
The Group is always philanthropic and ready to help the needy. It is especially supportive to the meaningful initiatives of MSF.
Besides taking part in "MSF Day", NWD has also provided media sponsorship for MSF's 2006 awareness campaign. Free advertising spaces at bus shelters of New World First Bus and Citybus as well as free airtime at FirsTVision in New World First Bus buses are offered. The sponsorship aims at arousing awareness and support to MSF's meaningful life-saving effort among general public.
