New World Group and its 28 group companies awarded as Caring Companies recognizing their commitment in corporate social responsibility
New World Development Company Limited ( "NWD", "New World Group" or the "Group", Hong Kong stock code : 17) and its 28 group companies are awarded the 2008/09 Caring Company Logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service today, recognizing their contribution to and outstanding performance in corporate social responsibility during the past year. This is also the fifth consecutive years NWD, Taifook Securities Group Limited, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, Citybus Limited, New World First Ferry Services Limited, New World First Ferry Services (Macau) Limited and CiF Solutions Limited are awarded with this logo. In addition, NWD's subsidiary, NWS Holdings Limited is awarded with Total Caring Award, acknowledging its commitment to caring for the well-being of the staff and their families, as well as the customers and community.

New World Group has been placing great emphasis on the development of local young people. Mr Adrian Cheng, Executive Director of NWD, said, "Young people are important assets and the future leaders of our society. New World Group is committed to nurture local young people by supporting social enterprise and various activities, such as forum, youth arts exhibition, Mainland-Hong Kong exchange, etc. We hope these can help them to have all-round development and become the pillar of our future society."
New World Group has organized different community activities in 2008 to support youth development. The Group set up "Road to Green - Striving for a Young New World" social enterprise together with Tuen Mun Youths Association last year. By running business in collecting used-clothes for recycling, the social enterprise aims at providing extensive on-the-job training and job opportunities for young people in need, helping them rebuild confidence in their job prospects and re-integrate into society.
In addition, the Group also organized "People Power in A New World" Youth Arts Exhibition to encourage the youngsters to develop their creativity and promote local arts as well as help raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières. The Group also organized "New Youth New World" Beijing-Shanghai Summer Internship Tour with Hong Kong United Youth Association, offering internship opportunities in state-owned enterprises and Hong Kong-owned companies in Beijing and Shanghai for university students, providing them valuable opportunities to gain hands-on experience as well as broadening horizon.
