New World China Land Honoured with “Industry Practice Award for 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Ranking in China”

New World China Land Limited (“NWCL”, Stock Code: 917.HK) was honoured with the “Industry Practice Award for 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Ranking in China”, and shortlisted in the “Top List Hong Kong-Invested Enterprises on Real Estate Value Ranking in China” by China Business News (“CBN”) in Shanghai. . 

The “2014 CBN • Corporate Social Responsibility Ranking in China” was themed on “Socially Responsible Companies”, and the six-month judging procedure is based on a professional, authoritative, and exclusive judging system, including questionnaire, enterprise interview, expert review, and news observation. The judging committee considered that sustainable development has become an important constituent of NWCL’s core values. While building sustainable urban communities, NWCL attaches much importance to creating harmonious community life and providing long-term support for charitable, educational, sports, as well as art and cultural programmes. 

As a Hong Kong-based enterprise, NWCL has always been focusing on its environmental responsibilities, actively promoting the application and innovation of green building design, urging contractors to create green construction sites, encouraging staff to build green office environment, gathering owners and lessees for construction of green communities, and minimizing negative impacts of the construction life cycle on environment. Moreover, NWCL supports activities pertaining to education, sports as well as art and culture through diversified activities and measures. Between 2013 and 2014, NWCL joined hands with the Habitat for Humanity China, an international charitable organisation, to support the rebuilding of farmhouses in poverty-stricken areas in Sichuan Province and Guangdong Province, and held intangible cultural heritage programme, “New World.City Trace Memories”, to advocate preservation and inheritance of traditional culture. The “Happy Island Library” which was put into operation in 2010 has gradually become a reading and cultural hub for the community residents. NWCL is the first developer in Mainland China which established a corporate volunteer team, and now it has over 900 volunteers distributed in more than 10 cities across China. In December 2014, NWCL presented its first sustainability report which is the first sustainability report produced by a property developer operating in Mainland China in compliance with the most updated G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). 

The “CBN • Corporate Social Responsibility Ranking in China” which was firstly initiated in 2008 has been held for six successive years, aiming at interpreting and spreading complete, correct and dominant CSR ideas by relying on CBN’s professional, authoritative and strong media influence, jointly communicating CSR ideas, sharing CSR achievements, and discussing CSR innovations with outstanding enterprises, experts, scholars, and the public. It is one of the most professional and authoritative CSR competitions.
