145 Exhibitions and Conferences Chose HKCEC

1,180 Events Reaffirm HKCEC’s Service Excellence
 

Latest figures confirm that the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre ("HKCEC") continues to be the preferred venue of international organisers for staging world-class exhibitions and conferences in Hong Kong. During fiscal year 2012-2013 (July 2012 to June 2013), a total of 1,180 events were held at the HKCEC including115 exhibitions and 30 conferences.

Seven organisers have chosen to launch new ventures at the HKCEC. Seven of the year's 115 exhibitions were first time events at the HKCEC, covering a wide range of industries including real estate, bakery, diving and resort, sports and interior design, etc.

104 of the 115 exhibitions held in FY2013/13 were recurrent events and continued to be the backbone of the HKCEC's exhibition portfolio. In the reported year, 20 of the recurrent exhibitions recorded double-digit growth in terms of gross exhibition space compared with their previous editions.

Conference business remained at previous year's level. Among 30 conferences, 22 were international and 11 were new to the HKCEC. Those conferences covered a diverse range of topics, from medical science, dentistry, and yoga to spinal care related subjects.

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd ("HML") is the professional private management company responsible for the venue management and daily operation of the HKCEC. Other than exhibitions, the HKCEC was also home to corporate meetings, banquets and entertainment events. In total, 1,180 events held at the HKCEC in FY2012/13 attracted over 5.2 million visitors from around the world to the venue. "The HML team is proud to have served 42,010 events and over 80 million buyers, exhibitors, visitors and guests over the past 25 years," noted Lee-Müller. "These events have contributed significant economic benefits to Hong Kong by generating spin-offs for related industries, creating numerous jobs and business opportunities for small and medium enterprises, and enhancing Hong Kong's international image and reputation."
