New World Group’s annual reports win International Mercury Awards

New World Group has achieved marvelous results in the Annual International Mercury Awards in the past years. This year, the FY2008 annual reports of New World Group received various awards in the 22nd Annual International Mercury Awards, recognizing its outstanding performance in corporate communication. New World Development Company Limited ( "NWD" or "the Group", Hong Kong stock code : 0017) won the silver award in "Annual Reports - Overall Presentation: Multi-industry"; NWS Holdings Limited ("NWS", Hong Kong stock code: 659) won the bronze award in "Annual Reports - Overall Presentation: Conglomerate"; New World China Land Limited ("NWCL", Hong Kong stock code: 0917) won the gold awards in "Annual Report Covers - Graphics, Illustrations, Typographics" and "Annual Reports - Overall Presentation: Housing Development & Sales" while New World Department Store China Limited ("NWDS", Hong Kong stock code: 825) won the bronze award in "Annual Reports - Overall Presentation: Department Store".

Mr Adrian Cheng Chi-kong, Executive Director of NWD is pleased that the annual reports of all the four listed arms of New World Group received the awards, "We are thankful to the International Mercury Awards for their recognition on our annual reports and our dedicated work in corporate communication. Our achievement in the awards showcases that our annual reports have already attained an international standard. We value our relationship with investors and the public. New World Development FY2008 annual report utilizes white color as the background color, with photos representing the four core businesses of the Group - property, infrastructure, service and department store on top of a diamond-shaped graphic, signifying the eternity and brightness of the outstanding business results of the Group. The content of the report is concise enough to deliver all the information to the investors. The high-quality photos also add to the impressiveness and clarity of the report.

As shown in the tagline "Grow Solid   Go Eco-friendly", NWS FY2008 annual report highlights the strong and sustainable business growth and the enthusiasm dedicated to environmental protection of NWS. Visuals, use of colors, typography and photography treatments are harmonized throughout the report. Also, a ribbon with red and orange color (the corporate color of NWS), developed from the Group's 5th anniversary logo, is utilized as the main graphic visual throughout the report to maintain continuity. "Go Eco-Friendly" boxes are shown everywhere in the report, allowing readers to have a clear understanding on the environmental protection work done by NWS.

The creative NWCL FY2008 annual report, with a theme of The Raiders of the Lost Ark, brings the readers to the country-wide network of NWCL in China. The treasure map and telescope visuals on the cover fully demonstrate the theme of the report. The content, introducing the business of NWCL in different regions in China, gives detailed information to the readers to undergo an exciting treasure hunt.

The design of the NWDS FY2008 annual report features a vivid palette with simple patterns. The up-flying rainbow-colored butterflies on the cover represent the diversified and quality services rendered by NWDS that serve to enrich lives and driving a pursuit for a better lifestyle. It also demonstrates an upward trend of NWDS's business development. In addition, the use of yellow color throughout the cover and the content delivers the message of a bright and promising future of NWDS.

The Mercury Awards, organized by MerComm, Inc., are considered as the most highly respected and prestigious award by industry peers. With an aim to promote excellence in the various fields of communications, the Mercury Award designs a strict judging process, where every entry would be evaluated three times. Therefore the awardees are certainly the highly recognized ones.
