Foshan Golf Club of New World China Land attains the GEO Certified™ ecolabel and hosts The Foshan Open 2013 - European Challenge Tour and China PGA Championship
New World China Land Limited ("NWCL"; stock code: 917.HK) announced that its Foshan Golf Club, located in the Canton First Estate, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, has attained the authoritative GEO (Golf Environment Organization)Certified™ ecolabel. Foshan Golf Club has become the second golf club in China to receive theprestigious international award for sustainable golfclub and it is the first golf course which receives the accolade in Southern China.
Foshan Golf Club has a long history, and when New World China Land took over the operation of the Club, the Group preservedmost of the ecological forest landscape in the rehabilitation and transplanted native plants to further enhance the environment. Canton First Estate was designed as an ecological community project through the corporation of a roughly 270,000 sq m water recycling planning, a 470,000 sq m plantation optimisation and transformation, and a large-scale running water garden. Both artificial wetland and floating island were introduced in the planning stage, through which rain water collected is discharged into the lakes and used for irrigation, saving an estimated 1.2 million cubic metres of water annually.
The International Golf Tournament "European Challenge Tour and China PGA Championship" was held in Foshan from 17 to 20 October, and it attracted the best players from across the globe. The three-time European Tour winner Nick Dougherty, theItalian player Andrea Pavan, who is the leader of the Challenge Tour Rankings, Daan Huizing from Holland,Francois Calmels from France, as well as the Chinese players such as Huang Wenyi, Zhang Xinjun, etc., will compete for championships in this tour.
