Dr Cheng Kar-Shun, Henry is presented "The Award of Yan-Huang", recognizing his contribution to China’s Talent Training

(13 March 2006, Hong Kong) Dr Cheng Kar-Shun, Henry, Managing Director of New World Development Company Limited ("New World Group" or the "Group"; Hong Kong stock code: 0017) was presented "The Award of Yan-Huang (People Award)" on 5 March 2006 by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs ("SAFEA") to commend his contribution to talent training in Mainland China. The awarding ceremony was held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Beijing, with Mr Xu Kuangdi, Vice-Chairman of CPPCC National Committee, as the award-presenting guest. 

For years, Dr Cheng Kar-Shun, Henry has been dedicated to the development of talents in Mainland China. With his enthusiastic advocacy, New World Group signed an agreement with SAFEA and John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University ("Kennedy School") in 1998, starting the "New World Training Programme for Senior Government Officials". Each year, 12 outstanding senior government officials are sent to Kennedy School for an academician course of four months, which includes specialized and executive courses of 2-4 weeks. Up to now, around 100 prominent officials have benefited from this professional training programme with international standard. 

According to "2001-2005 Fundamentals of National Talent Planning", SAFEA is to develop the party and government personnel, business management personnel and professional technical personnel, via utilization of resources from both domestic and international talent markets. Also, targeted training programmes abroad are to be launched, with "New World Training Programme for Senior Government Officials" as a vivid example. 

"The Award of Yan-Huang" is an honorary award to commend Chinese fellows or organizations from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan or overseas for their distinguished contribution to China's talent training as well as exchange and cooperation with internationals talents. This annual award is jointly organized by China International Talent Exchange Foundation, China Association for International Exchange of Personnel and Beijing-Hong Kong Exchange of Personnel Centre Ltd.
