New World Group has been actively promoting the development of Mainland China and Hong Kong affairs and is committed to contributing to the Greater China region. Besides organizing various disaster relief activities, lending a helping hand to our compatriots in Mainland China, the Group also arranges local university students to attend internship programmes in different Mainland cities to encourage young people to learn about their home country and care about their motherland.

"New Youth New World" Mainland Students Internship Programme

Since 2010, the Group fully supports "New Youth New World" Mainland Students Internship Programme, a continuation of "New Youth New World" Summer Internship Programme, furthering its persistence in nurturing young talents. The Group has provided a one-month internship opportunity to 150 outstanding Mainland students to experience the Hong Kong life and culture. New World Group and Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Company Limited have offered over 30 working opportunities to students in two consecutive years, encouraging the youngsters to grasp every golden opportunity to widen their horizons and prepare to be the future leaders of the society.

"New Youth New World" Summer Internship Programme

Jointly organized by Hong Kong United Youth Association ("HKUYA"), New World Development Company Limited ("NWD"), China Young Leaders Foundation ("CYLF") and more than 20 other organizations, and hosted by HKUYA Student Exchange Network (affiliated to HKUYA), "New Youth New World" Summer Internship Programme provides opportunities to Hong Kong undergraduates to go to first tier cities in Mainland China for internship. The Group has shown its continual support to the programme for four consecutive years since 2008. Over 800 students were benefited and some worked in the Group's department stores in the Mainland China.

Throughout the six-week internship period, participants will be arranged to work in real-life business units, visit government departments, popular corporations and famous scenic spots. They will also be arranged to visit some Mainland properties and projects of NWD, and participate in "CEO Exchange Day" where students can meet with the successful entrepreneurs and professionals. Through seminars and sharing, students are able to learn from the renowned celebrities as well as students from Mainland China.

Series of "Reform & Opening Up of China" Activities
New World Group is always enthusiastic in promoting national education among the youth. In the year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Reform & Opening Up of China, the Group has extended its support to a series of activities on the topic of "Reform & Opening Up of China" organized by The Y Elites Group, including the "30 Years of Reform & Opening Up – 10 Most Significant Events" online voting, the publication of the book named Reform & Opening Up of China, and the "Reform & Opening Up" Exhibition, with an aim to enhance the youth's cognition on the history of reform & opening up of China, so as to understand more about their position, the opportunities and the challenges ahead.

Organized from August to September 2008, the online voting was organized for the general public to choose 10 most significant events from the 30 big events of the Reform & Opening Up; the publication was distributed for free to all the tertiary institutions, secondary schools and youth organizations after it was published in October 2008; while the Exhibition was successfully commenced on 23 October, 2008 at the New World Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. The exhibition period was from 23 October to 2 November, and has attracted a crowd of visitors from the general public, various youth organizations, tertiary institutions and secondary schools.

Model Government Summit
New World Development Company Limited fully supports the competition of "Model Government Summit" organized by Roundtable Community. 20 Hong Kong and Mainland China undergraduates, divided into four groups, represented the governments of Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou respectively. They made presentations on how an ideal city should look like.

"Model Government Summit" is one of the programmes supported by New World Group under the project of "New World Young Leaders". Through this innovative activity, the Group hopes to promote the students' understanding of Mainland China's recent development and review the competitiveness of youth in Hong Kong and the mainland after 10th anniversary of the HKSAR.

"Youth in Excellence" - Advantages and Cooperation between Hong Kong and Mainland Youth 10 Years after the Establishment of the HKSAR

New World Development Company Limited fully supports the polling named "Youth in Excellence" - Advantages and Cooperation between Hong Kong and Mainland Youth 10 Years after the Establishment of the HKSAR' which was conducted by Roundtable Community during April to May 2007. The polling result was released on 8 July 2007 and aroused public discussion of related issues successfully.

"Youth in Excellence" - Advantages and Cooperation between Hong Kong and Mainland Youth 10 Years after the Establishment of the HKSAR is one of the programmes supported by New World Group under the project of "New World Young Leaders". It aims to arouse young people's reflection on their strengths, weaknesses and positioning in the future of China.

"My Generation of Chinese" - Guangdong-Hong Kong Student Exchange Programme

New World Development Company Limited fully supports "My Generation of Chinese" - Guangdong-Hong Kong Student Exchange Programme organized by Roundtable Community. 30 students from Hong Kong and 30 from Guangzhou joined the Exchange Tour to Guangzhou and Hong Kong in May 2007. They gained an understanding of urban planning and development in the two regions through visits, seminar and exchange.

"My Generation of Chinese" - Guangdong-Hong Kong Student Exchange Programme is one of the programmes supported by New World Group under the project of "New World Young Leaders". It aims at opening up a door for youths from different backgrounds to discuss various issues, including social topics, creative culture and urban planning, in Mainland China and Hong Kong. The programme will review the changes and achievements after Hong Kong's handover, and look into the future and pave ways for subsequent collaborations.

Chinese Culture Week

"Chinese Culture Week", organized by The Organizing Committee for Celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of Reunification by the Hong Kong Youth Sector and co-organized by New World Group, was held on 1 - 7 May 2007. Young people from the 56 ethnic groups in Mainland China were invited to Hong Kong. They attended a series of activities, including exhibition, troupe performance and forum with the youth in Hong Kong. The event has obtained overwhelming response.

"Chinese Culture Week" is one of the programmes supported by New World Group under the project of "New World Young Leaders". The Group is glad that the event has contributed to the unity of the ethnic groups and harmonious development of China through understanding and communication.
