New World Group has been placing great emphasis on the nurturing of local young people and actively supporting the all-round development of them. In 2007, the Group launched "New World Young Leaders" which promotes the exchange and integration of young people, and nurtures future leaders in Hong Kong and China.
In addition, NWD has established awards to support the academic research conducted by ethnic Chinese around the world and offered opportunities of training and artistic creation for young people, enabling them to develop their professionalism to contribute to the society.
In October 2011, New World Development Company Limited jointly established a new eco cycling tour "New World ECOASIS Series - Kam Pok Eco Tour" with Tung Wah Group of Hospitals BiciLine Cycling Ecotourism Social Enterprise ("BiciLine") The collaboration provides employment opportunities to low skilled low educated youth from low income family in Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai, enhancing the awareness of environmental protection and eco-tourism among the community.
Funded by NWD, this three-year collaboration aims at training and employing low skilled youths with limited working experience living in Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai to become the tour guides, encouraging them to possess positive attitudes towards life. We would also like to guide the public to discover the undiscovered oasis in town and promote local eco tours.
Kam Pok Eco Tour is the first tourist route of "New World ECOASIS" eco cycling tour series. Under the guidance of BiciLine's tour guides, participants are able to tour around Kam Tin and Pok Wai by bicycle, knowing the history, culture and ecology at there. They will also be able to experience bird-watching, admire the mangroves and wetland and gaze at rare birds by using spotting scopes.
New World Group supports the development of youth organization in Hong Kong. To fully support "Rogaine24" navigation activity organized by The Hong Kong Award for Young People ("AYP"), the Group has sent a corporate team to participate in the six hours race to raise fund for AYP, supporting youth development in Hong Kong.
On 4 January 2011, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Teaching Hotel invested by New World Group with HK$1.3 billion, celebrated its grand opening. The Teaching Hotel, comprises of both a hotel facilities component and a teaching facilities component. The hotel facilities component, Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin is managed at an international five-star standard, where students of School of Hotel and Tourism Management ("SHTM"), CUHK can take classes and serve practicum. The teaching facilities component, located in the Cheng Yu Tung Building adjacent to the hotel, features a learning centre, food and wine laboratories as well as a fully student-run experimental restaurant, providing internship, teaching and research facilities for the SHTM students, marking a new chapter in Hong Kong's hotel and tourism management education.
To encourage academic breakthrough of young university students, New World Group fully supports the establishment of the "New World Mathematics Awards", which is organized by The International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians ("ICCM"), and supported by New World Development Company Limited and China Young Leaders Foundation. The Award aims at encouraging outstanding mathematics students, including undergraduate, master and PhD students, of Chinese descendant in their pursuit of mathematical truth.
The second "New World Mathematics Awards" Presentation Ceremony was held successfully in Beijing on 17 December 2010. Witnessed by over 200 international Mathematicians, teachers and students of Tsinghua University, over 30 outstanding young Chinese undergraduates, postgraduates and PhD Mathematics students were awarded. The first "New World Mathematics Awards" was presented in Hangzhou, China on 17 December 2007.

New World Group always cares for the community and the elderly, committed to fulfilling social responsibility by all means. As a responsible corporate citizen, the Group established "Road to Green – Striving for a Young New World" Social Enterprise ("Road to Green") with Tuen Mun Youths Association in 2008 with major business of collecting used clothes from the public. On-job trainings and volunteering opportunities were provided to the trainees of Road to Green regularly.
Since 2008, the Group organized "Warmth Delivery" activity with Road to Green for three consecutive years, showing our care to the elderly. On 4th December 2010, volunteers of New World Group and trainees of Road to Green visited Wing On Home for the aged in Kwai Chung. Apart from doing stretching exercises and playing mini games with the elderly, winter clothes, vacuum mug and gift cards were offered to the elderly as gifts, sending warmth and blessings to the elders in winter time.
As part of the warmth delivery activity, the Group invited its staff members to donate warm clothing such as woolen knitwear, scarves, and thick jackets since 2008, in which the selected clothing were donated to the elderly living in Tin Yuet Estate in Tin Shui Wai, Lei Muk Shue Estate in Tsuen Wan, Tai Hing Estate in Tuen Mun and Wing On Home for the aged in Kwai Chung. The Group hopes to express love and care to the elderly in the community.

In 2010, the Group has formed a team of four staff members to participate in "Inner Challenge" organized by Breakthrough Limited for the second consecutive year. The team completed the 15-km challenge successfully with joy and team spirit.
"Inner Challenge" is an annual fund-raising event of Breakthrough. The Group has supported this for two consecutive years, with an aim to raise the public awareness towards youth development activities and demonstrate to the youngsters the importance of cooperation and persistence.
New World Group understands the importance of providing a diverse development platform for youngsters. New World Facilities Management Company Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Group, has been appointed by the Home Affairs Bureau to provide management and operation services for Youth Square in Chai Wan, Hong Kong, on a non-profit making basis, starting from April 2009.
Youth Square, being the first of its kind, serves as the base of the youth development activities. It comprises an auditorium, multi-purpose halls, offices as well as retail shops, providing space and facilities for a variety of youth activities. Moreover, Youth Square is equipped with a youth hostel, providing 150 rooms for accommodation of Hong Kong - Mainland and international exchange activities.
To collaborate with the government of HKSAR on further promoting social enterprise, New World Development Company Limited has joined hands with Tuen Mun Youths Association to set up a social enterprise named "Road to Green - Striving for a Young New World". The enterprise aims to provide extensive on-the-job training and job opportunities for young people in need, helping them rebuild confidence in their job prospects and re-integrate into society.
The social enterprise mainly targets at young people aged 15 to 25, with low working skills and lack of working experience. It equips the unemployed youth with the necessary working skills and builds up their self-confidence. Besides, through selling the used clothing discarded by residents or giving them away to people in need, the enterprise not only helps promoting environmental friendliness, but also trains the young people to concern about society, fostering social harmony.
In addition, NWD arranges company visits under New World Group for the trainees, including security company, laundry company, hotel, thus enhancing their knowledge in different industries in the society.
