"New Youth New World" Beijing-Shanghai Summer Internship Tour |

New World Development Company Limited, Hong Kong United Youth Association, China
Association for Science and Technology, HK Chamber
Of Commerce in China – Shanghai have jointly organized
a “New Youth New World” Beijing-Shanghai Summer
Internship Tour, offering a six-week internship
in Beijing and Shanghai for 168 university students.
The tour provides a chance for students to gain
hands-on experience in state-owned enterprises
and Hong Kong-owned companies, so as to give back
to society. The tour is also co-organized by the
China Young Leaders Foundation.
In the tour,
New World Group provided 12 internship positions
at New World Department Store headquarters in
Shanghai.

"People Power In A New World" Youth Arts Exhibition |
| |
 New World Development Company Limited and China Young Leaders Foundation have
initiated a project of “People Power In A New World”
Youth Art Exhibition, together with Hong Kong Youth
Arts Foundation, providing opportunity for students
to create and exhibit their artworks in a public
space while at the same time, learn more about
the life-saving effort of MSF. Around 5,000 students
from 50 secondary and primary schools have participated
in the exhibition. Through creating their artworks,
students are able to develop their creativity and
foster their care to society.

"Road
to Green - Striving for a Young New World" social
enterprise |
|
To collaborate with the government
of HKSAR on further promoting social enterprise,
New World Development Company Limited has joined
hands with Tuen Mun Youths Association to set up
a social enterprise named "Road to Green - Striving
for a Young New World". The enterprise aims
to provide extensive on-the-job training and job
opportunities for young people in need, helping them
rebuild confidence in their job prospects and re-integrate
into society.
The social enterprise mainly targets at young people
aged 15 to 25, with low working skills and lack of
working experience. It equips the unemployed youth
with the necessary working skills and builds up their
self-confidence. Besides, through selling the used
clothing discarded by residents or giving them away
to people in need, the enterprise not only helps
promoting environmental friendliness, but also trains
the young people to concern about society, fostering
social harmony.

World Mathematics Awards |
|
To
encourage academic breakthrough of young university
students, New World Group fully supports the establishment
of the "New World Mathematics Awards",
which is organized by The International Congress
of Chinese Mathematicians ("ICCM"), and
supported by New World Development Company Limited
and China Young Leaders Foundation. The Award aims
at encouraging outstanding mathematics students,
including undergraduate, master and PhD students,
of Chinese descendant in their pursuit of mathematical
truth. It will be awarded every three years in ICCM.
The first "New World Mathematics Awards"
was presented in Hangzhou, China on 17 December 2007.

Bright
Future Action - A New World for Amblyopic Children |
|
New
World Group fully supports the project of "Bright
Future Action - A New World for Amblyopic Children".
New World First Bus and Citybus provide free bus
body advertisements and airtime at FirsTVision for
the promotion of the project, bringing the message
of concern about children amblyopia to local communities
in Hong Kong. Also, New World Centre under KLPS Group
Limited and 200 property projects managed by Urban
Property Management Limited will join by promoting
and raising funds for the project. Medical professionals
from "Bright Future Action" will arrange
free eye examination for children in the properties.
What's more, starting from October 2007, the Group
will help to deliver the message of "Bright
Future Action" to major cities in Mainland China
through New World Department Store China Limited.
New World Group aims to promote the message of
caring for the amblyopic children among different
communities in Hong Kong and Mainland China, bringing
new hope and a new world to those children with visual
problems.

Médecins Sans Frontières |
|
New World Group is supportive
to the meaningful initiatives of Médecins
Sans Frontières ("MSF").
MSF
Day
New World Group has participated in the
"MSF Day" since 2006. Staff members
are encouraged to support the event by donating
one day's income to MSF, just as volunteering
for MSF's worldwide medical aid work for one day.
In 2007, over 2,000 staff members have joined
the event and a sum of HK$520,000 was raised.
With the overwhelming responses from its staff,
New World Group is proud to become the most generous
contributor to the event and also the corporation
with the highest number of participants.
MSF Orienteering Competition
New World Group supported MSF Orienteering
Competition 2007 not only by sponsoring venue
for the competition's soft launch which was held
at New World Centre in December 2006, but also
sent volunteers to assist in the competition on
4 February 2007 at Wan Tsai, Sai Kung. In addition,
the Group also organised a corporate team to participate
in the event and was glad to be awarded as Outstanding
Organisation Fundraiser.

World MSF Charity Sale
New World Development Company Limited
always cares for the needy and is desirous to
bring joy and love to the vulnerable population
around the world in the season of Christmas and
New Year. The Group organized "New World
MSF Charity Sale" from 6 December 2006 to
15 January 2007, during which a set of four keychain
dolls of MSF was on sale at the lobby shops of
the three hotels under New World Group, namely
Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, Renaissance Harbour View
Hotel and Renaissance Kowloon Hotel, as well as
among staff members of the Group. All donations
contributed to MSF's international medical humanitarian
work to provide emergency medical assistance to
victims of natural disasters, wars, and epidemics.

Media sponsorship
New World Development Company Limited
has provided media sponsorship for MSF's 2006
awareness campaign. Free advertising spaces at
bus shelters of New World First Bus and City Bus
as well as free airtime at FirsTVision are offered.
The sponsorship aims at arousing awareness and
support to MSF's meaningful life-saving effort
among general public.
Staff
experience sharing session
New World Group has invited volunteer
worker of MSF as the guest speaker for an experience
sharing session for staff. She has shared the
frontline experience gained from her first MSF
mission in Kerenek, West Darfur, Sudan. The session
helped our staff gain more knowledge on MSF's
commitment to save life and alleviate suffering.

Government Summit |

New
World Development Company Limited fully supports
the competition of "Model Government Summit"
organized by Roundtable Community. 20 Hong Kong and
Mainland China undergraduates, divided into four
groups, represented the governments of Hong Kong,
Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou respectively. They
made presentations on how an ideal city should look
like.
"Model Government Summit" is one of the
programmes supported by New World Group under the
project of "New World Young Leaders". Through
this innovative activity, the Group hopes to promote
the students' understanding of Mainland China's recent
development and review the competitiveness of youth
in Hong Kong and the mainland after 10th anniversary
of the HKSAR.

to the Beijing Olympic National Aquatics Centre |
|
Committed
to Hong Kong and devoted to China, New World Group
contributed RMB50 million to ?Beijing Municipal Committee
for Jointly Constructing Beijing Olympic Stadiums-Gymnasiums
by Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas
Chinese" for the construction of Beijing Olympic
National Aquatics Centre(also known as "Water
Cube"). The cheque presentation ceremony was
held at Beijing Great Hall of the People on 6 July
2007, with Mr Liu Qi, Secretary of the Beijing Municipal
Party Committee; Mr Wang Qishan, Mayor of Beijing
and Ms You Lantian Minister of United Front Department
of the Municipal Committee attending the event.
The National Aquatics Centre is one of the venues
for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Its design was inspired
by soap bubbles. It was named "Water Cube"
because of its blue-box-like appearance.

Generation of Chinese" - Guangdong-Hong Kong Student
Exchange Programme |

"My Generation of Chinese" - Guangdong-Hong
Kong Student Exchange Programme organized by Roundtable
Community. 30 students from Hong Kong and 30 from
Guangzhou joined the Exchange Tour to Guangzhou and
Hong Kong in May 2007. They gained an understanding
of urban planning and development in the two regions
through visits, seminar and exchange.
"My Generation of Chinese" - Guangdong-Hong
Kong Student Exchange Programme is one of the programmes
supported by New World Group under the project of
"New World Young Leaders". It aims at opening
up a door for youths from different backgrounds to
discuss various issues, including social topics,
creative culture and urban planning, in Mainland
China and Hong Kong. The programme will review the
changes and achievements after Hong Kong's handover,
and look into the future and pave ways for subsequent
collaborations.

Chinese
Culture Week |
|
"Chinese
Culture Week", organized by The Organizing Committee
for Celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of Reunification
by the Hong Kong Youth Sector and co-organized by
New World Group, was held on 1 - 7 May 2007. Young
people from the 56 ethnic groups in Mainland China
were invited to Hong Kong. They attended a series
of activities, including exhibition, troupe performance
and forum with the youth in Hong Kong. The event
has obtained overwhelming response.
"Chinese Culture Week" is one of the programmes
supported by New World Group under the project of
"New World Young Leaders". The Group is
glad that the event has contributed to the unity
of the ethnic groups and harmonious development of
China through understanding and communication.

Environmental Education |
|
To
promote environmental protection and arouse the next
generation's awareness to the issue, NWD supports
the production of an education set published by the
Hyper Workshop. The set contains four books and two
CDs, which will be distributed to all the 1700 local
primary schools and kindergartens. The books aim
at educating children ways to protect the earth in
different aspects, including schools, families, society
and personal life. Meanwhile, the CDs contain cartoons
of Hyper and its event highlights, etc.

World/ Harvard Kennedy School of Government Fellows
Program" |
|
New
World Development Company Limited and the State Administration
of Foreign Experts Affairs ("SAFEA"), PRC signed
a new agreement for "New World/ Harvard Kennedy School
of Government Fellows Program" (2007-2009) on 19
April 2007, supporting the talent training in Mainland
China.
For years, New World Group has
been dedicated to the development of talents in Mainland
China. The Group signed an agreement with SAFEA and
John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University
("Kennedy School") in 1998, starting the "New World/
Harvard Kennedy School of Government Fellows Program".
Each year, 12 to 15 outstanding senior government
officials are sent to Kennedy School for a fellows
program of four months and an executive program of
three to six weeks. Up to now, around 120 bright
officials have benefited from this professional training
program with international standard.

Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation
("WZQCF"). Dr Henry Cheng, Managing Director
of the Group, presented a cheque of HK$5 million
to Sir David Akers Jones, the Honorary Chairman of
WZQCF on the inauguration ceremony of the Foundation
on 12 April 2007. This serves as the Foundation's
seed money.
WZQCF is one of the programmes supported by New

Young Leaders". The Group hopes that the love
and care from the whole society will benefit the
poor and underdeveloped areas of Mainland endlessly.

New
World Group has Made Hiu Yin's Dream Come True |
|
12-year-old
Chau Hiu-Yin suffers from mucopolysuccharidosis IV,
a type of life-threatening congenital illness. Her
wish was to enjoy a buffet dinner at the Congress
Restaurant of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition
Centre.
Having received the request from Make-A-Wish Foundation
of Hong Kong, New World Development Company Limited
immediately fulfilled Hiu Yin's wish by arranging
a free buffet dinner of 12 people for her at Congress
Restaurant on 29 July 2006 without hesitation. She
enjoyed the dinner and shared the joy with her family
and friends. The Group is grateful to have created
such a special and everlasting memory for this cheerful
young lady.

Group is keen on supporting academic and research
development, and promoting academic exchanges in
Hong Kong. Over the years, Dr Cheng Yu-Tung, the
Group's Chairman, has sponsored
many academic development projects of The Chinese
University of Hong Kong ("CUHK").
NWD strongly supports CUHK's vision to strengthen
Hong Kong's role as an excellent hospitality and
tourism centre in the region. CUHK, in particular
its School of Hotel and Tourism Management, is partnering
with the Group to develop a teaching hotel to nurture
future leaders in hotel and tourism management.

"Modern
Apprenticeship" |
|
New
World Group supported "Modern Apprenticeship",
a joint venture with Delia Group of Schools and Breakthrough
Organization. It provided scholarship, apprentice
training for the youngsters. It aimed at equipping
them with work experience and building up their self-confidence
through work.
The Group sponsored all the operation
expenditure, and encouraged staff attending mentorship
training. The Group also provided job opportunities
for the outstanding graduates upon completion of
the programmes.

Donations
for Asian Tsunamis |
|
The
largest tsunami disaster in decades struck several
South Asian countries in December 2004, taking hundreds
of thousands of human lives, and leaving countless
people homeless. Being part of the global village,
the Group and its employees demonstrated exemplary
kindheartedness and unity by raising donations in
support of relief operations for the victims. Over
HK$4.2 million was raised by the Group. Of this amount,
HK$1.7 million was raised for UNICEF from Group staffs
in Hong Kong and Mainland China, with the Group contributing
the same amount in fulfilling its earlier pledge
for a dollar for dollar donation made by its staffs.
Other companies and subsidiaries of the Group donated
over HK$800,000 to the voluntary organizations.

Community
Chest "Award of Distinction" & "Run-up
Two ifc Charity Race" |
|
Our
commitment in enhancing corporate citizenship can
be reflected by the activities we participated. In
recognition of our significant contribution, the
Group was presented with the "Award of Distinction"
by the Community Chest for 2004/2005 campaign year.
One of these events was "Run-up
Two ifc Charity Race". The donations were used
to enhance "Services for the Mentally Handicapped"
supported by the Chest. Over 200 participants ran
up the 2,600 stairs of the 88-storey IFC II Building
in Central. New World Group fully supported the Race.
Besides donating to the event, the Group sent four
staffs to run in the Super Challenge Race where 11
teams participated. With enthusiasm and good team
spirit, New World Group Team, comprised of four of
our colleagues and two TV stars, won the 1st Runner-up.

The
Avenue of Stars |
|
Tourism
has been a key job provider in Hong Kong, and is
widely recognized as a backbone of the Hong Kong
economy. The Group sponsored HK$40 million for the
construction of the Avenue of Stars, Hong Kong's
brand-new tourist attraction located along Tsim Sha
Tsui Waterfront Promenade. The Group is also responsible
for managing and maintaining the project for 20 years.
Featuring floor plaques of Hong
Kong's outstanding film industry professionals, sculptures
and facilities relating to the local film scene,
the unique tourism attraction has proved itself to
be a big draw for local and overseas visitors since
its official launch in April 2004.
Offering a superb view of the Victoria
Harbour, the Avenue of Stars serves as a platform
for promoting Hong Kong and its tourism industry
by leveraging on the appeal of Hong Kong's movies
and film stars. With the support of the film industry,
movie-related events are regularly organized at the
Avenue of Stars to help boost Hong Kong's international
image as a dynamic Asian city with a thriving film
industry. The Avenue of Stars also acts as a nurturing
ground for the local cultural scene by providing
local performers and artistes an easily accessible
public performance venue to bring their arts to a
wide audience.

"Create
a New World for Children" Corporate Alliance Campaign |
|
The
Group and UNICEF launched the "Create a New
World for Children" Corporate Alliance Campaign
in August 2003 to help improve the welfare of underprivileged
children in China. Since then, a number of Group
companies have put in place fund-raising channels
in support of UNICEF. These include setting up donation
boxes to encourage customers to make donation, organizing
staff donation programmes and donating portions of
sales revenue to UNICEF. In 2004, the Group's China
property division organized a cross-border driving
event and an Easter eggs charity sale, raising more
than HK$1.2 million for UNICEF's education programme
for girls in China.
