Be Enchanted in THE FOREST - Nature Meets the City in a Unique Sports-Themed Shopping Experience

New World Development Company Limited (the “Group”) has collaborated with the Urban Renewal Authority to transform Sneakers Street, one of the major retail districts in Hong Kong, into a new mall – THE FOREST. Merging urban and natural elements, this new shopping destination is a garden in the heart of the city, blending modern architecture and local culture. A perfect hybrid of authentic Hong Kong lifestyle, contemporary design, and natural features, THE FOREST embodies the Group’s brand personality – The Artisanal Movement.

Echoing the Group’s persistence in delivering bespoke craftsmanship manifested by originality, THE FOREST takes its cues from the cutting-edge architecture of Tokyo’s Daikanyama area, where the narrow alleys and winding streets lead you into scenic greenery. In Hong Kong this famous cultural destination is given a contemporary twist and transformed into a sports-themed shopping mall. It is an oasis for city dwellers craving Sneakers Street’s lively, athletic vibe and focus on all things healthy, sporty, and trendy.

Surrounded by greenery, visitors discover a lush world the moment they enter the mall. A wall covered in plant life stirs the imagination, evoking days spent wandering outdoors. Sun shines through the glass ceiling, with windows designed for free opening to fill every corner of the mall with fresh air. Passing through this invigorating space blends a journey in the woods with a walk through the bustling cityscape of Hong Kong. Guests can connect with nature and imagine our vision of sports and green living in a balanced lifestyle.

Every detail in THE FOREST reflects our artisans’ passion for excellence and dedication to bespoke craftsmanship. By curating a personal shopping experience, their inspiration transforms an everyday shopping trip into an enchanting wilderness trek. The building’s intricate architecture interlaces delicate greenery with bursts of energy. The sound of leaves in the breeze intermingles with the fragrances of the forest, creating moments of serenity and excitement, and a chance to revel in this breath-taking setting.

Named to reflect its role as a stunning natural hideaway in the busy city, THE FOREST consists of a three-storey building covering more than 50,000 square feet. Its unique design speaks of ground-breaking architectural vision and is centred in a desire to fulfil customers’ needs while promoting wellbeing and environmental consciousness. Combined, these elements create a space for people to share, interact, and explore. Expected to open in mid-2017, The FOREST will offer a diverse range of stores and eateries, bringing an exciting new retail experience to the hip vibe of Sneakers Street.

About The FOREST

Located on Nelson Street in central Mong Kok, The FOREST represents a new concept in retail by seamlessly integrating a shopping mall with nature, sports, and culture. Inspired by the peculiar and irregular architecture of Daikanyama, a neighbourhood in Tokyo, the three-storey mall covers an area of over 50,000 square feet. Much of the space is dedicated to plant life and greenery, while the high glass ceiling brings the outdoors inside. With its excellent location, a diverse range of tenants, and a commitment to fostering sports culture, The FOREST aspires to stand out as a new destination allowing visitors to share, interact, and explore.
